季節変動、年々変動、10年スケールの変動などの気候変動に興味をもって 研究をしています。例えば、北極海の海氷の変動の要因、 ユーラシアや極域における大気循環の変動、などです。 熱帯の対流圏界面層の気温変動、水蒸気の脱水過程、 大気中のラグランジュ的にみた物質循環にも興味をもっています。 過去には、水循環の解析、物質輸送・拡散 （例：アラスカの森林火災）などを行いました。
成層圏の循環の変動に関しても研究しています。
成層圏には突然昇温とか赤道域の準2年振動
のような興味深い現象があります。
また成層圏循環と対流圏循環は無関係ではありません。
特に、冬季には両者は一体となって変動しているようです。
最近は、「北極振動」
「熱帯域の対流圏界面層での水蒸気輸送」（
定常な輸送図）
などについて主に興味を持っています。
2005年4月から大学院は環境起学専攻に本籍が移りました。私の担当するコースは、
主に「水循環」「地球温暖化」を研究課題とするコースです。
地球圏科学専攻の
大気海洋物理学・気候力学コースも兼務しています。
