Kuroshio Extension System Study(KESS) is an observational research project, started in 2004. We casted buoys and CPIES into Kuroshio Extension and thatΰ€©s re-circulation region to observe the vertical structure of the flow, water temperature, salinity generally. Moreover we launched 118 baloons on the observational lines which crossed SST front of Kuroshio Extension to observe the influence of SST on vertical structure of temperature and humidity of lower atmosphere. R/V Roger Revelle crossed SST front of Kuroshio Extension 11 times in total. And we operated ceilometer during voyage intermittently to get cloud base height at the same time. Here, we disclose sounding data of radiosonde. we launched 118 baloons on the observational lines which crossed SST front of Kuroshio Extension to observe the influence of SST on vertical structure of temperature and humidity of lower atmosphere.
